Father’s Day is this Sunday
Father’s Day is this Sunday. Everyone has a Father. Some can spend the day with them and others have to remember them because they have passed away. If your Father is a live take the time to spend time with him. Let him know how important he is to you by even just picking up the phone or spending time with him. No one is perfect and as a Dad my self we try to do the best we feel for our kid. The bible says:
Understanding their proper role
The advice given to young men was very important in the ancient Greek society, the role of the husband/father was not viewed as a nurturing role but merely as a functional one. Many neglected their responsibilities to their wives and children. Husbands and fathers who are good examples of Christian living are important role models for young men who need to see how it is done. Source: NLT Bible Titus 3 2:26
Being a Dad
If you aren’t a Dad I would like to tell you that it is a wonderful thing. If you aren’t able to have kids then think of adopting a child. I know two of the best days of my life was when my two kids were born. I have never gone a day since they were born that I didn’t think about them. My kids are grown up and busy with their lives. I miss when they were little and wanted to play together.
Being there
As a Dad I will always be there for my kids. I don’t care how old they are they can always live with me. If they need any advice or anything that I have I will give it to them. Anytime they need a babysitter I will be there. I love and care for them so much. That is great part of being a dad is having someone to care for your whole life. I am so proud of my kids and as they grow they continue to amaze me as they become adults.
Make time for your dad
If you are grown up and out of the house be sure to take time out of your busy schedule to spend time with your dad. I wish I could have one more day to take my dad bowling or fishing. My dad died last August. It was one of the hardest things I have gone through. One I left the house I was so busy with my career and family and didn’t make time to go back home to visit. I lived over five hours a way. Now I wish I could make that drive everyday to see him again. So couldn’t you try to make a weekend once a quarter every three months if not more often.
Forgiving your dad
If you are mad at your dad and not seeing him for something that didn’t go your way or something he may have said. It doesn’t matter in the big picture of life. Everyday that goes by is a day you can never get back. If you are a Christian you know that God forgives us everyday for our mistakes. We should forgive our Dad and others everyday. Life is too short to hold a grudge. Love your dad, does he need anything, how could you help him instead of being upset with him.
Leaving a Mark
I know the last bowling season I had dedicated it to my dad and had the best bowling season ever. I feel my dad may have been helping me out. But now the season is over and I want to leave a Legacy in him honor for life. So I am writing a book called “The Mills Way”. It will give examples of the lessons he taught me and others and how well he lived life. It will show how is was not selfish and was a be giver to others. He always was a role mode for relationships and marriage. He stuck by the promise of marriage. Let me know your thoughts and ideas of how others can honor their dads. I think how much better this world would be if we all lived by the way my dad did. Also please join my facebook and Linkedin using my e-mail of mills.management@hotmail.com. Have a great day.
